SENIOR PORTRAITS IN SCOTTSDALE, PHOENIX & BEYOND
The season of becoming
& right on the edge of everything next
High school senior photos that are natural, editorial and unmistakably you. No awkward poses, no forced smiles, no chain-studio energy. Just real photos of who you are right now, by an easy going, experienced photographer who knows how to draw it out.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A senior session that
actually feels like you.
If posing for photos isn't your thing, you're in good company. Most teens show up a little unsure wondering what they should do with their hands. That's where I come in. I'll guide you through easy poses and movements that don't feel like poses, keep the conversation light and easy, and do my best to make you feel confident, seen and comfortable in front of the camera, so I can capture the real you.

WHY IT MATTERS
The details matter. But seeing you matters more.
The right light, location, clothing and direction all help create a beautiful portrait. Those details matter, and I’ll guide you through every one of them.
But the photographs families treasure most are usually the ones that capture something more personal: a familiar expression, a quiet confidence, the way you laugh when you forget about the camera. The little things that feel unmistakably like you.
That’s what I’m watching for throughout your session. I’m not only thinking about how the photograph looks technically & creatively, but what it reveals about the person in front of me. From the way I guide and photograph you to the final edit, every choice is made to create images that feel natural, polished and true to who you are right now.
My job is not to turn you into someone else. It’s to capture you beautifully as yourself.
Twenty years behind the camera. People first, always.
I’m Jennifer Bowen, but everyone calls me Jen. I’ve been photographing Arizona families and seniors for more than twenty years - long enough to watch children I first photographed as newborns become graduating seniors. In that time, I've worked with thousands of people and have learned that almost everyone feels a little awkward in front of a camera at first.
That is where I come in. I’ll guide you through natural feeling posing, and keep the session moving and light, so it never feels stiff or overly serious. Most people are surprised by how quickly they relax.
Not only am I focusing on the big picture scene and vibe (lighting, location, clothing details) but I'm also watching for how it all feels and noticing for when I see you settle into yourself, and your smile reaches your eyes... that is the moment that gives a photo that extra soulful something and what I'm watching for in every single photoshoot.
And after all these years, this is still the part I love the most: Creating connections with fellow humans and allowing the space for people to feel comfortable enough to be themselves, and then capturing something authentic and beautiful from the experience.

PLANNING AHEAD
Senior Portraits in Arizona
Time of Year
-
Many seniors schedule their photos in Aug, Sept & October if they have early yearbook deadlines where these photos can be included.
-
Most seniors plan their sessions for January-April of the year they graduate.
-
March and April are the most popular months for Senior Photos in Arizona
Upon booking, seniors will receive styling/clothing suggestions, location ideas and helpful tips for hair, makeup, nails, props and more.

AZ College Grads
College graduation photos in Arizona are most often scheduled in late April and May, close to their own graduation. Many ASU grads love going to the Tempe campus to take photos near Old Main and on Palm Walk.
For other graduates from University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon University, Scottsdale Community College and more, Jen can recommend several local Phoenix Metro spots great for portraits if she is unable to travel to Tucson or Flagstaff due to her schedule. Never hurts to ask however!
