SENIOR PORTRAITS IN SCOTTSDALE, PHOENIX & BEYOND
The season of becoming
& right on the edge of everything next
High school senior photos that are natural, editorial and unmistakably you. No awkward poses, no forced smiles, no chain-studio energy. Just real photos of who you are right now, by an easy going, experienced photographer who knows how to draw it out.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your senior year. Your style.
Your kind of session.
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. We’ll plan a session around your style, personality and comfort level, whether that means something relaxed and simple or a little more editorial.
We’ll create the portraits your family will want to frame, along with plenty of relaxed moments that feel natural and completely your own. By the end, my hope is that you’ve forgotten to feel awkward, genuinely enjoyed yourself and walked away excited to see what we created.

WHY IT MATTERS
The details matter. But seeing you matters more.
Twenty years of photographing people has taught me that the difference between a good portrait and a great one isn't the outfit or the location. Those things matter, as does the craft of working well with the light.
But the real difference is whether the photographer notices the little in-between moments that reveal something more soulful from the person standing in front of them, and captures that. Captures you.
More than any technical skill, it's the ability to put a person at ease, connect with them, and then see them clearly. That's what separates a pretty portrait from a moving photograph.
My job isn't to turn you into someone else. It’s to capture you beautifully as yourself.
Twenty years behind the camera. People first, always.
Hi, I'm Jennifer Bowen, but everyone calls me Jen. In my two decades plus behind the camera, I've had the honor of capturing several siblings years apart, as well as the honor of capturing kids I first photographed as newborns become graduating seniors!
I have worked with thousands of amazing people and one thing is consistent - almost everyone feels a little awkward in front of a camera at first. That is where I come in. I'll guide you through natural posing, and keep the session light and moving, so you hopefully feel relaxed and confident in no time.
Not only am I focusing on big picture vibe and how it feels (windswept hair, your natural laugh), but I'll also keep an eye out for the little details so you end up with a mix of lifestyle editorial candids and pretty portraits.
After all these years, this is still the part I love the most: Creating an easygoing connection that helps you feel comfortable, and then capturing something uniquely you in a beautiful photograph.

PLANNING AHEAD
Senior Portraits in Arizona
Time of Year
-
Many seniors schedule their photos in Aug, Sept & October if they have early yearbook deadlines (where these photos can be included).
-
Most seniors plan their sessions for January-April of the year they graduate.
-
March and April are the most popular months for Senior Photos in Arizona, please book ahead.
Upon booking, seniors will receive styling/clothing suggestions, location ideas and helpful tips for hair, makeup, nails, props and more.

AZ College Grads
College graduation photos in Arizona are most often scheduled in late April and May, close to their own graduation. Many ASU grads love going to the Tempe campus to take photos near Old Main and on Palm Walk.
For other graduates from University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon University, Scottsdale Community College and more, Jen can recommend several local Phoenix Metro spots great for portraits if she is unable to travel to Tucson or Flagstaff due to her schedule. Never hurts to ask however!
